I.O.I : LOOP marks the long-awaited return of I.O.I and arrives as the group’s tenth-anniversary project. The release reconnects the group’s original identity with a reflective look at their history, combining newly recorded material with archival content from the group’s earlier era. The album balances reunion nostalgia with contemporary production and presents a narrative centered on continuity, memory, and growth.
The project also carries historical significance through the inclusion of “웃으며 안녕 (Goodbye With A Smile),” a previously recorded track from 2016 that was completed and revisited for this release. The album was issued with participation from nine members, while Zhou Jieqiong and Kang Mina did not take part in the project.
The mini album moves across multiple styles while maintaining a cohesive emotional direction. The opening track introduces a celebratory and identity-focused atmosphere, while the title track “Suddenly (갑자기)” adopts a softer mid-tempo approach with retro-pop influences and melodic restraint.
